The exhibition Olmecs and the Civilizations of the Gulf of Mexico at Pointe-à-Callière invites you to discover the earliest known civilization in Mesoamerica, taking you on a journey through almost 4,000 years of history, exchanges, and traditions that remain somewhat mysterious, even today.

Some 300 objects in the exhibition, mainly from the invaluable collections of the Museo Nacional de Antropología in Mexico City – and never before shown in Canada – allow visitors to explore the vibrant world of the Olmecs, their ways of life, their beliefs, and their traditions.

Presented in the form of a voyage of discovery, the objects on display are accompanied by audiovisual productions and animations, archival images, original soundscapes, and reconstructions of historical architecture. The exhibition offers a true journey across time and space.

Discover the Olmecs and the civilizations that came after them!
